Posted by Eric on Mar-27-2008

standavey.jpgClassic car enthusiasts need to sign up now to participate in the 28th Annual Stan Davey Auto Show slated for May 7.

Cost is $20 per car for one competition category or $30 per car for two categories. Registration forms can be downloaded at www.cciccweb.org or call Jeff Davis, 503-580-6527, to register. The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration must be completed by May 1 to be eligible for the show.

The auto show, which is presented by the Chemeketa Chapter of International Code Council (CCICC), raises money for Marion County Fire District No. 1 Dislocated Residential Fire Victims Fund. Each year the auto show aims to increase public awareness of the role building safety and fire prevention officials, local and state building departments, and federal agencies play on the front line of defense to protect lives and property.

Sponsors are also being sought. Different levels of sponsorship are available and cost $50 to be listed as a show donor to more than $300 for corporate-level sponsorship, which includes a logo on the even T-shirt.

For more information on show sponsorship, contact Jeff Davis or Pat Hare at 541- 550-6216.

Caregiving ain’t easy

Posted by bmatti1 on Mar-27-2008

Caregiving is not an easy job whether the person is known to you or not, but it can be a learning experience.

On April 25, Chemeketa’s lifelong learning program is hosting an all-day caregiving workshop at the Northwest Viticulture Center in West Salem.

Join Elaine K. Sanchez, author of the tender, gritty, and uproariously funny book, Letters from Madelyn, Chronicles of a Caregiver, as she presents a practical and uplifting set of strategies for coping with anger, guilt, depression and grief. Sanchez’s presentation will touch on the resources available to help keep a loved one at home as well and need-to-know information about assisted and skilled nursing facilities. Participants develop a personalized survival plan to achieve physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual balance.

The workshop is schedule from 9 to 5 p.m.

Cost: $120 for non-credit registration (includes CEUs for professionals) and includes a light breakfast, buffet lunch and evening wine and hors d’oeuvres. Call 503-399-5181 to register with Visa or MasterCard.
