The Chemeketa Woodburn campus will be hosting Cinco de Mayo events (history workshops, music, dance, folklore, food, and arts) from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 2 and 3.
The Salem campus will celebrate Cinco de Mayo in the Old Quad (between buildings 2 and 3) next Monday, May 5. Artistic performances by the Woodburn High School Mariachi Band, folkloric dancers from North Marion High School’s Aguilas Unidas Club, and Mexican singer Jesus Segura, and Los Inesperados Phonomimic Show are just a few of the highlights. The fun begins at 11 a.m. and should wrap up about 1:30 p.m.
The holiday commemorates an initial victory of Mexican forces led by General Ignacio Zaragoza SeguĂn over French forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. More here.
