Montez Bailey
On May 29, 2009, hearts in Salem were broken over the senseless death of Montez Bailey, a young man who was shot and fatally wounded while sitting on a park bench with two friends. His friends, 21-year old Skylar Bailey and 20-year old Cameron Carolino, were also shot, but they survived. Eduardo Angulo, longtime advocate for kids in the Salem area said, “This is one of the most senseless crimes that we have ever had to witness in our lifetime.” (more…)
Chemeketa student gets Silverton internship
Current Chemeketa student Caitlyn Lehner has earned an opportunity that no other community college student in the state of Oregon has earned. She is one of 16 journalism students to receive Snowden Internship and was the only student attending a community college. (more…)
Schedules will no longer be mailed
February 15, 2011 Salem, For over 35 years, the Chemeketa class schedule has been produced, printed and mailed to an expanding number of residential addresses. This spring, the practice will cease and transform into a more sustainable option for Chemeketa and local mailboxes. (more…)
