College Night in Oregon at Chemeketa Nov. 14

College Night in Oregon is November 14Chemeketa Community College will be one of the sites of an annual statewide college planning event Nov. 14.

College Night in Oregon is an annual statewide event hosted at several Oregon colleges and universities. Information sessions will be available in English and Spanish. Event participants will learn about:

  • Choosing the right college
  • Federal and state financial aid programs
  • Scholarships and scams

“College-bound students and their families will have an opportunity to learn about critical resources and tips ranging from how to write an effective essay for college admissions and scholarships to understanding a financial aid award letter,” said James McNicholas, Chemeketa’s coordinator of student recruitment and outreach.

The event is from 6:30 to 9 pm in Building 6 on the Salem campus. This is a free event with free parking. Space is limited to the first 200 participants who register onsite (pre-registration is not available). Free pizza and refreshments will be available for all.

Participants can enter to win one of four $500 scholarships toward tuition at a college of their choice. The scholarships are open to students who have not attended college before and winners must be present at the time of the drawing to claim the scholarship.
