Erath Family Foundation helps fund Viticulture Scholarships

By Chemeketa Public Affairs

Chemeketa Community College has received a three-year commitment from the Erath Family Foundation to help provide students with the Willamette Valley Viticulture Scholarship. The new Willamette Valley Viticulture Scholarship aims to expand student accessibility to Chemeketa’s English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and Viticulture programs including Vineyard Management, Vineyard Operations and Winemaking.

Thanks to the Erath Family Foundation’s contribution, Chemeketa’s Willamette Valley Viticulture Scholarship is prepared to match 50/50 with students’ employers – up to $2,000 per student each year – to help defray the cost of tuition and other educational expenses.

“Our goal is to support vineyards and wineries investment in educational opportunities for their employees,” says Dick Erath, owner of Erath Winery and founder of the Erath Family Foundation. “By training the next generation of vineyard managers and winemakers, we’re ensuring the success of this booming Oregon industry for years to come.”

Wineries and vineyards interested in partnering with Chemeketa to provide the Willamette Valley Viticulture Scholarship to their employees can contact Nancy Duncan at 503.399.2530 . Students interested in applying for the Willamette Valley Viticulture Scholarship can receive more information by calling 503.399.6990 or by visiting the Chemeketa Foundation.
