Chemeketa wine added to Mahonia Hall cellar

By Chemeketa Public Affairs

If you ever find yourself at dinner in the home of Oregon’s governor, you can now request Chemeketa Community College’s finest vintage.

Chemeketa donated six cases of wine to the wine cellar of Mahonia Hall, the official Salem residence of the state’s governors.

The wine, three cases each of 2008 Pinot noir and 2012 Chardonnay, was produced at the Northwest Wine Studies Center at Chemeketa Eola.

“2008 was a great vintage in the mid-Willamette and the Chemeketa Wine Studies students did a great job making a fine wine that continues to show well, representing the best of Oregon pinot noirs,” said Joel F. Keebler, Chemeketa’s dean of agricultural sciences.

Instructors and several students in Chemeketa’s Wine Studies programs presented the wine to Gov. Kate Brown during a reception held in honor of Oregon’s wine industry on July 15.
