Celebrate Latino Culture

Chemeketa Yamhill Valley is hosting an important community event Saturday, September 9 from 11 am to 4 pm.

Sabor Latino is an annual celebration of the Latino community in Yamhill County.  The event highlights music, dance, and food.  Local resource organizations also provide information about their services to the community.

Chemeketa finalist for sustainability award

Chemeketa finalist for sustainability awardChemeketa Community College’s work in teaching students leadership has resulted in the college being a finalist for a multinational award for sustainability.

The college is a finalist for the Campus Sustainability Achievement Award from the Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).

The project submitted for consideration in the award was utilizing the on-campus Marion-Polk Food Share Youth Farm for community service leadership courses offered through the college’s Student Retention and College Life office.

Chemeketa is a finalist alongside Johnson County Community College in Kansas and Red River College in Manitoba. The winner will be announced in October during AASHE’s conference in San Antonio, Texas.
