Samantha’s Biography

SamanthaWell it all started on a very cold, probably rainy day in December. I was born in the Salem hospital and lived there until I was in about 4th grade. My mom and dad divorced when I was around 2 years old and so for most of my younger years it was my mom and I and my younger brother. My mom then married my step-dad and we all moved to Keizer (so far away) where I finished elementary school, middle school, and high school. I had what you could call a movie-like experience in high school. I played volleyball all 4 years at McNary; I got great grades, had a lot of friends, and attended most of the sporting events. When college was mentioned I always knew what my answer was: The University of Oregon. I never had a doubt in my mind that I wasn’t going to go there. I’m just a duck fan, and well, that’s where duck fans go. Towards the end of my first semester of senior year something new and amazing was offered: free tuition at Chemeketa. Well not for just anyone… Students with a 3.5 GPA or higher. I was still a bit hesitant on whether I wanted to go or not, I mean I had my whole plan mapped out already. The University of Oregon was my only option in my mind. But it was an offer I couldn’t refuse and to this day I think it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

My family to me, is by far one of the most important things in my life. We’ve had our ups and downs, but together we’ve made it. Being too far away from them is something I couldn’t do and that is one great aspect about Chemeketa, it is close to home (for me at least). I have two younger brothers who can be a pain at times, but I love them. My mom is one of my best friends and the only person I have yet to meet that has truly loved me for everything that I am. She’s pushed me to be the best person I can be and to never give up on my goals.

I’m a pretty outgoing gal, I love meeting new people and trying new things. I love being adventurous, but sometimes it is nice to just stay in and watch a movie. Oh yeah, I’m a huge movie fan. I have a close knit group of friends that I love to death. I have extremely high goals for myself and expect nothing but the best for my future. Last, but certainly not least, I see God’s miracle’s working in my life on a daily basis and I am proud to have a relationship with him. I hope to see you around campus!
