How to Apply for Admission to Chemeketa

Your steps to enroll depend on the type of student you are. Select the option that best matches your situation for your application process.

Take College-Level Classes

  • NEW STUDENT FIRST TIME IN COLLEGE

    If you're a high school or GED graduate (or graduating soon) with no prior college classes seeking a degree, please view the detailed instructions on our First-Time College Student page.

  • RETURNING STUDENT

    Returning to Chemeketa after being gone two years or more

    1. Update your contact information by re-applying for admission
    2. Apply for financial aid
      Applying for financial aid is not required, but is encouraged. Apply as soon as possible to get the maximum amount available to you. DACA students can find help paying for college here
    3. If necessary, meet with an advisor
      Discuss your transcripts and prior class credit and get information on financial aid and degree programs
    4. Register for classes. Log in to your Chemeketa account and check your registration date and time. If you don't remember your user name and password, you can look it up
    5. Arrange for payment
      Payment is due before the first day of the term or within 10 days of registration (whichever is later) to avoid a $25 late fee. Pay online through your Chemeketa accountYou can also arrange a payment plan
  • TRANSFER STUDENT

    Attended another college and transferring your credits to complete a degree at Chemeketa

    1. Apply for admission
      No application fee
    2. Apply for financial aid
      Applying for financial aid is not required, but is encouraged. Apply as soon as possible to get the maximum amount available to you. DACA students can find help paying for college here
    3. View the new student orientation.
      You'll need your Chemeketa user name and password. After you log in, go to the Services tab, then Advising link, and scroll down to the New Student Orientation icon
    4. Transfer your credits
      Submit official transcripts and request an evaluation of your transfer credits. Evaluation of previous credits may take several weeks or longer and students who need their transfer credits to be used as a prerequisite for a course are encouraged to fill out a Prerequisite Course Form (available under "Current and Past Students" on the Student Forms page) to request an override from an advisor
    5. Meet with an advisor. Chemeketa Online students can view the session online
    6. Register for classes. Log in to your account, activate your Chemeketa student email, and check your registration date and time
    7. Arrange for payment
      Payment is due before the first day of the term or within 10 days of registration (whichever is later) to avoid a $25 late fee.. Pay online through your Chemeketa accountYou can also arrange a payment plan
  • International Students

    All students who are in the USA on a Visa and are Non-U.S. residents.

    • You can attend full- or part-time based on your visa type or transfer to Chemeketa as an international student. Instructions to apply
  • NON-DEGREE SEEKING(guest student from another college or just taking classes)

    For students wishing to take a few classes at Chemeketa-- either to transfer to another college or just for fun/personal enrichment. 

    • Apply for admission as a guest student
      No application fee
      1. Select "I just want to take classes" as your educational goal
      2. Select the option under "What types of courses?" that best describes you: "Guest student (I plan on transferring to another school)" or "Taking college classes for personal enrichment/fun" or "Taking audited courses with the 65+ Tuition Waiver"
    • Search our classes to find which courses you wish to enroll in
    • Fix your registration holds or errors (if applicable)
    • If you have prior college credit, submit the prerequisite form to ensure you get overrides for any courses that require prerequisites. You will need: Your unofficial transcript, Chemeketa student ID# (K#), and Course(s) you want to take. Learn more about prerequisites
    • Register for classes. Log in to your account, activate your Chemeketa email, and check your registration date and time
    • Arrange for payment
      Payment is due before the first day of the term or within 10 days of registration (whichever is later) to avoid a $25 late fee. Pay online through your Chemeketa accountYou can also arrange a payment plan
  • COLLEGE CREDIT NOW STUDENT

    Students interested in enrolling in College Credit Now (CCN) courses at their high school. 

    1. Apply for admission to College Credit Now by following the steps on the College Credit Now page
    2. Register for classes in My Chemeketa
    3. Arrange for payment. Take as many classes that are available at your high school for a flat fee of $25 per year. Pay your high school directly when registering for your first CCN class each year.

    Note: Current or former College Credit Now students who wish to be degree-seeking must complete the steps for "New Student First Time in College" instead.

  • UNDERAGE STUDENTS

    Students Ages 17 and under

    Underage students without a high school diploma or GED who want to enroll in college credit classes
    (If you are 18 years of age and still enrolled in high school, complete the underage application below)

    Please note the submission deadline for each term:

    Admission Term Submission Deadline
    Summer Term  June 6
    Fall Term  September 10
    Winter Term  December 6
    Spring Term  March 10

     

    1. Complete the Underage Admission Application

    2. Meet with a High School Partnerships advisor and register for classes:
      Once your application has been processed and your placement information has been reviewed, you will be contacted by email with further instructions on how to make an appointment with your assigned advisor. You must place into minimum Writing 115 and Math 091 to be approved for college level coursework.

    3. Arrange for Payment:
      Payment is due before the first day of the term or within 10 days of registration (whichever is later) to avoid a $25 late fee. Pay online at My ChemeketaYou can also arrange a payment plan.

    4. Enrolling in future terms and classes:
      To re-enroll in future terms and classes, you will need to schedule an advising appointment with your High School Partnerships advisor. You do not need to complete a new application. You must successfully complete your class(es) with a grade of C or better to continue your enrollment in Chemeketa’s college-level courses.

      Please note: For students 15 and under, additional guardian/student agreement must be completed prior to enrollment.

  • DUAL ENROLLMENT STUDENT

    Note: This is for students dual-enrolling at Chemeketa and another university. If you are still enrolled in high school, please visit our Dual Credit Opportunities page.

    Work with advisors from Chemeketa and other universities to earn your degree.

    Meet with advisors from both colleges

    Chemeketa has partnerships with four Oregon universities to offer dual credit opportunities with –

  • FINISH HIGH SCHOOL- AGES 16-20

    Roberts at Chemeketa is a partnership with the Salem-Keizer School District. Please click on this flyer for more information. The program is open to both Salem-Keizer students and high school students in the Chemeketa service district. 

  • EARN A GED - AGES 16-20

    Students ages 16-20 who want to earn a GED

    At the Salem Campus
    • Email highschool@chemeketa.edu and submit a transcript
    • Submit completed application and high school transcript
    • Attend an orientation and wait for acceptance via sponsorship
    At Chemeketa's Woodburn Center

    Are you between the ages of 16-20, interested in earning your GED in Woodburn for free? The High School GED option covers subjects to prepare you for GED tests. Meet in a classroom setting, face-to-face with your instructor. Give us a call at 503.589.7650.

    At Chemeketa's Polk Center or Yamhill Valley Campus – Ages 16 & 17
  • ADULT GED - AGES 18 & OLDER

    Students ages 18 and older who want to earn a GED

    1. Apply for admission as a GED seeker
      No application fee. Select "for personal enrichment" as your primary reason for attendance. Select "no, just taking classes" when asked if you plan to earn a degree or certificate at Chemeketa.
    2. Take GED pretests (not the college placement assessment)
    3. Schedule and attend an orientation
    4. Register and pay for classes

  • CLASSES FOR PERSONAL ENRICHMENT/FUN

    Non-credit community education classes. For students wishing to use our 65+ Audit Tuition waiver, please follow the steps for Non-Degree Seeking Students above.

    1. Apply for admission No application fee.
      • Select "I just want to take classes" as your educational goal and select "Taking community education courses (non-credit)" from "What best describes you". Provide your email address to receive your student ID# (K#) to access My Chemeketa within 5-10 business days. 
    2. Search our classes
    3. Register for classes. Log in to My Chemeketa to set up your Chemeketa email account and check your registration date and time.
    4. Arrange for payment. Payment is due before the first day of the term or within 10 days of registration (whichever is later) to avoid a $25 late fee.

  • Underage Non-Credit

    Students ages 17 and under without a high school diploma or GED who want to enroll in non-credit classes must follow the same process as credit-seeking underage students above.
